West Vail Real Estate
The western side of Vail proper offers both northern and southern communities, each with a different feel and ambiance. The northern communities offer sunny alpine-style homes, perched high on the hills overlooking I-70 and the surrounding mountains. Most of the commercial conveniences of Vail are found in West Vail, with grocery stores, fast food restaurants, bars, a hardware store and the post office located on the Frontage Road.
The southern side of I-70 features lushly wooded, alpine-like terrain interspersed with open meadows and a residential mix of homes and condominiums. Here you will find the neighborhoods of Intermountain, Matterhorn, Vail Village West and prestigious Highland Meadows. Gore Creek rushes through, turning corners as it tumbles past boulders and heads down valley. The proximity of the surrounding forest and Gore Creek make many of the homes located here “hidden gems,” waiting to be discovered.
