Vail and Beaver Creek Mountains are known internationally for their world class skiing and snowboarding. Vail is the largest and most popular single-mountain ski resort in North America, offering an amazing 4,644 acres of skiable terrain on 174 trails. From the easy greens on the Northwest Bowls, to the challenging steeps in the Back Bowls, Vail has more variety to offer than any other ski mountain in the world. Blue Sky Basin, opened in the 1999-2000 ski season, with 885 acres of additional terrain complements the existing Back Bowl experience, known for its famous powder runs.
Elegant Beaver Creek Resort is only a 15-minute drive from Vail and offers more of Colorado's best skiing. Beaver Creek is home to America's famous Birds of Prey Downhill course that has proven to be one of the toughest stops on the Men's Alpine World Cup Tour. Beaver Creek Mountain is also connected to Arrowhead and Bachelor Gulch in North America's only Village-to-Village ski experience.

Most ski resorts are lucky to have one bowl. Vail isn't "most resorts". There's a reason why we say "there is no comparison."
At Vail, we're blessed with seven natural bowls. Our soft, dry powder snow stretches over seven miles wide and our legendary Back Bowls represent just one-third of Vail's total terrain.
- Vail's Back Bowls span over 2,966 acres and offer an unparalleled powder paradise. The views are spectacular and the runs last forever!
- In 1957, while searching for the ideal location for a ski resort, Vail's founder Pete Seibert, took one look at this place and said simply "This is it."
The Terrain Parks for Snowboarders!
Vail continues to step-up its commitment to it's parks and pipes and this year is no exception. Vail again raises the bar for other resorts to follow!
Golden Peak Terrain Park Highlights
- Pro and local riders alike continuously praise the Vail Superpipe. Pipe riders find the 18' walls a challenge, while the nightly grooming and Zaugg Pipe Monster assures consistency.
- A variety of medium to larger jibs, rails and hits are scattered throughout the park each designed to flow into the next section.
- The Jib Park is like a "park within the park," enclosed in a glade of trees, riders can spend a day sliding and hiking all different kinds of rails and jibs. It is the ultimate hangout for park rats.
- Multiple take-offs and landings, some with rail options, make the jump sections as challenging as you want them to be.
- High-speed quad access from the Golden Peak base area guarantees a quick, comfy ride.
Design and Maintenance
- Park designer, Stephen Laterra builds and maintains the Golden Peak Terrain Park using the natural topography of the run.
- New this season, the revolutionary Zaugg Pipe Monster ensures a consistent and perfectly shaped Superpipe at the top of the Golden Peak.
- Another key tool for grooming the terrain park to perfection is Pisten Bully's terrain park snowcat the Park Bully.
- Under Stephen's direction, the Parks and Attractions crew hand rake and shovel features daily for your enjoyment.
Mule Skinner and Bwana Terrain Parks
- These parks feature small hits and rails - great for learning the basics of freestyle progression or trying a new trick.
- Mule Skinner can be accessed from the Riva Bahn Express (Chair 6), one trail over from the Golden Peak Park.
- Bwana can be found under the Eagle Bahn Gondola (Lift 19) above LionsHead.
